I am a Filipino freelance journalist who has contributed print, online, and video reports to various media outlets in the Philippines and overseas. Previously, I contributed stories and photos about travel, business, education, science, health, and technology, among others. Now, I primarily cover safety- and security-related stories, such as disaster/calamity, drug war, conflict, extremism/terrorism, crime, COVID-19 pandemic, and public health, as well as human interest stories.
My reports appeared in print and online publications, such as BusinessWorld, SecurityMatters, Philippine Star, Entrepreneur, Good Housekeeping, Smart Parenting Online, FemaleNetwork, Quality Teacher, Mabuhay Magazine, Cruising, Travel Update, Hospitality Philippines; and in overseas publications, such as InsideOver (Italy), Iltalehti (Finland), Ecigintelligence.com (UK/Spain), Cbd-intel.com (UK/Spain), Tech Times (US), Planet Philippines (key cities worldwide), and Women’s Media Center (US). I also reported via Skype for Deutsche Welle (Germany) about the Resorts World Manila attack in 2017.
Other times, I am a news fixer (journalism slang for local production assistant), helping foreign journalists, photographers, and television production companies with their coverage and filming in the Philippines. I worked with media colleagues reporting/filming for Dagens ETC (Sweden), The Daily Mail (UK), Artemis Media (Australia), Los Angeles Times (US), PPTV HD 36 (Thailand; with NewsNarratives team), Le Monde (France), Global News (Canada), and Channel NewsAsia (Singapore; with NewsNarratives team), and Aftonbladet (Sweden), among others.
My reporting and research contribution as a news fixer were credited in stories at the Los Angeles Times (US), Global News (Canada), and Aftonbladet (Sweden).
Also, I have a team of talented news fixers and coordinators/assistants with diverse backgrounds (academe, media, corporate, government, and non-government) who can assist in media production.
Out of passion and purpose to help through storytelling, I founded NewsNarratives, an online newsmagazine that covers underreported social issues and human interest stories in the Philippines and, hopefully, elsewhere written in longform. It’s a women-led media startup.
My story for the Women’s Media Center won 1st Place in the 2022 International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) Violence Against Children Reporting Contest.
